Belle Isle Park Was Designed by a Famous Landscaper

Belle Isle is the largest city island park in the United States! Encompassing 982 acres, Belle Isle Park is even larger than Central Park in New York City. Like Central Park, Belle Isle Park was designed by famous landscaper/architect Frederick Law Olmstead.

Belle Isle Park is also home to the oldest conservatory in America, the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. The conservatory was first opened in 1904. Today, the conservatory is home to a lily pond garden, perennials, succulents, ferns, and more. The conservatory is also home to one of the largest city-owned orchid collections in the entire United States!
